We arrived in Edinburgh arounnd 8:30 a.m. A driver was there to pick us up and take us to our hotel - Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor. Our room wasn't ready so Roberta & I hopped onto a 26 bus to the Zoo. Edinburgh's Zoo is lovely. Animal enclosures had emphasis on creating comfortable environments but aesthetic beauty is also added with a variety of plants, flowers and interesting shaped structures. Roberta was delighted to connect with Zoo volunteers because SHE does that very thing in Winnipeg. My favourite animals to visit were the koala bears, the penguins and (of course) the monkeys (gibbons, baboons, etc).

When we arived back at the hotel at 2:30, our room was just ready for us. We cleaned up and had naps before meeting with the Gate 1 group at 6. Almost the entire group had been on Gate 1's England tour the week previous. There were only 6 or 7 "newbies" & we had to stand up and introduce ourselves. After the meeting, part of the group walked with Ian (our tour guide) into the heart of Edinburgh. At the end of our walk, Adrienne (from Dallas) joined Roberta & I for Fish & Chips and then a walk back to the hotel.
