April 10th

When Isabella had led us outside of the Castle walls, we ended up once again at the foot of the hill near where Albert had let us out at least an hour before. We followed a street which led us past Pope John Paul's previous residence towards a square named for Mary Magdelene. There was a beautiful church across from an impressive monument for a Polish notable.

We passed many interesting shops, people and decorations. Impressive carriages with handsome horses transported tourists past us.

Eventually we ended up in Old Time square. Michael had explained that was was once city walls had been replaced by grassy parks. Some of the oldest and most historical parts of Krakow are enclosed within this area.

Our afternoon tour would not begin right away so we were given instructions on how to get back to our hotel and a meeting time. We were left to explore on our own for awhile. Lynn and I checked out both the permanent and the outdoor markets. The outdoor market was the more impressive because it was so nicely decorated for Easter. Many of the foodstuffs and goods were related to the Easter holiday.
