April 12th

We drove down from the hills and back over the Danube to the Pest side of the river having good views of the castle again as we rode. Our next destination: Heroes' Square.

The square was huge and decorated with a series of columns and statues. Impressive buildings stood on all sides of the square. I meandered away a bit to cross traffic to a bridge which gave me a view of some beautiful buildings and a pond. When I rejoined the group and we all got back on the bus, we actually crossed that bridge and learned that the pond area became a skating rink during the winter and that there was a park depicting many of Hungary's famous buildings beside it. We also passed mineral baths housed in an impressive yellow building and we drove past the zoo.
