April 14th

Once Julie, Ave, Lynn and I were all back at the Hilton, we left for dinner. We walked down the road a short way to a restaurant called Plachutta. There I ordered boiled beef... but which cut?? I ended up choosing one different than the one our waiter suggested. He wasn't impressed. And when Lynn couldn't make up her mind between two cuts, he left. Turns out he chose for her. Go figure.

Emperor Franz Joseph made the dish popular. Instructions were as follows:
1. Place a ladleful of beef broth from your pot into your bowl.
2. Spread bone marrow onto a slice of black bread and season with Salt & pepper before eating.
3. Take some meat from the pot and serve with the fried potato rosti, vegetables and horse radish with apple.

By the time we were finished, it was dark out but mild therefore the walk back to the hotel was pleasant.
