April 17th

Time for our farewell dinner! Albert picked us up at the end of the street and we travelled past the city and past the Dancing House at the foot of the Jusaskuv Bridge. We went into the suburbs quite a distance to get to U Lipy Restaurant.

U Lipy is a family run business, open since 1989. Our host (the owner) started our meal by serving us Becherovka, a Czech herbal bitters, that began its existence as a digestive aid. Next we had an antipasto plate followed by a lovely soup. The main dish was boiled beef with potato dumplings and sauerkraut. All of this was accompanied by wine. We finished with a nice chocolate cake.

During the meal, a talented musician played local music on the keyboard, violin and trumpet.

Elena's daughter, Eve, noticed (as did I) that there was a portrair hanging on the wall which could easily have been her mother.

When the meal was finally over, we got on the bus for the final time. We said our goodbyes to both Albert and Michael. Our "family" got together for one last family photo then we all said good night. Many were leaving very early for the airport so we wouldn't be seeing several of them.
