April 18th

By the time Lynn and I went downstairs for breakfast on our last day in Prague, many of our fellow travellers had already taken a shuttle to the airport. We had breakfast then spent some money on some lovely garnet jewellery from the shop in the hotel. Lynn also went out of the hotel to see if she could find a few more interesting groceries to take back to Canada.

Promptly, at 9:25, a seven seater shuttle arrived at the hotel to take me, Lynn, and a family of 3 from San Salvador (mother and 2 daughters, one daughter now living in the USA) to the airport. Since the airport was about 18 km from the hotel, the ride took us about a half hour.

We killed a bit of time at the airport after checking our bags. I was able to check my bag through to Winnipeg but Lynn could only direct it to Toronto where she had to transfer it herself. The plane was the Canadian made Bombardier. Although small, it was a very comfortable ride.

On the plane, I met Monica from Czechia who was going to Chicago to visit a cousin. After landing in Warsaw, she stayed with us awhile before going to meet her plane. Before too long, our LOT flight from Warsaw to Toronto was ready to board. Although I tried to sleep a bit on the way to Toronto, I couldn't manage it. Instead I watched a couple of movies.

At Toronto's airport, Lynn and I temporarily parted ways. Her trip to Winnipeg was scheduled on WestJet and mine on Air Canada. Customs in Toronto was relatively painless. I was able to get through the line quickly, pick up my bag, and place it on the forwarding conveyor belt. I went through security fairly quickly, too. I waited for Lynn's email to say she'd made it to her plane on time before turning off my phone to save the battery.

Lynn's plane had already landed in Winnipeg when I went downstairs to claim my suitcase. I called Stephanie who picked us both up at the front door of Winnipeg's airport. We dropped Lynn off at her house before making a trip to my house. Since Melanie and Stephanie had forgotten to bring my car keys to the airport, we returned to Stephanie's place then I walked the couple of blocks to Melanie's to pick up my car. By the time I finally got home, it was after 3 am.
