1998 - Present Day

Since the 1977 addition, all of Daniel McIntyre's renovations have been improvements to the interior.

The science classrooms are now located together in the main floor, south hall. Some classrooms have been expanded in size (Rooms 21, 22, 24, and 27). Storage areas and prep rooms have been added. (Between 20 & 21, 25 & 27, and Room 24B)

A business education wing was created. Rooms 1, 3, 4, & 5 are all networked and an office was created between Rooms 3 & 5 for the business education teachers to better supervise those labs during the noon hour.

A larger, single staff room was created.

Finally, an indoor track and weight room was made in the basement of the 1977 addition.

A quick picture tour of the present day building:

A familiar sight...
the south Alverstone entrance.

It's the door that the displays "720", the address of the school.

Many a student has graduated from this school. This "graduate" might be weather worn, but it's greeted all those who have passed through the door it guards.

This tower may no longer fly the flag but it still stands majestically at the south east corner of the school.

This is a view of the field from the south field... the only remaining playground.

Notice the detail in the window casement.

This the the Math and Science wing, built in 1964.

This is a view of the Music Room (left) and the Math and Science wing (right) from Banning Street.

The west entrance to the school. The boiler room is below. The erection shed used to sit where the paved stones are.

Formerly a gym and auditorium, this is now the library and multipurpose room.
Entrance to the auto shop. Also the north west door to the school.

The industrial arts wing built in 1977.

The main entrance to the school. Gymnasium is on the right, office is on the left.

Note the three generations of brick: Foreground, original school, 1923. Middle, 1957 addition. Background, 1977 addition.

South end of the quadrangle. South entrance.

Formerly an entrance to the school by the original principal's office, the war memorial created in 1958 (a stained glass window by Leo Mol) sealed the exit. The veranda is now only accessible from the quadrangle and it is used to store garden equipment.

East side of the quadrangle. The veranda is off the present day staff room.

Where the original building (right) met the 1954/1957 additions. There is a door leading to the underground tunnel.

North west view of the quadrangle. The doorway is part of the original school. The single storey attached is part of the 1954 addition. The double storey of classrooms (right) is part of the 1957 addition.

Even the boiler room has been renovated along the way... This is an original generator.

These boilers now heat the school. Although in good shape, they are 40 years old. They were installed during the 1950's renovations.

The underground track.

A weight training area is located in the underground track area.
